How to Add Blog Posts

Here are the steps to follow to set up a blog and add blog posts.

Please note: If you installed the demo content, you do not need to create the Blog Page or edit the homepage settings.

How to Add Blog Posts

Here is a general WordPress video on adding a blog post.

1. Click Add New under Posts.
2. Enter a blog title.
3. Enter content in the text area.
4. Optional:
   1. Add Categories – A category is a general topic for the post to be classified in. Examples: Music, Business, Behind the Scenes, etc.
   2. Add Tags – Tags link together similar blogs or news posts. Add new tags to the post by typing the tag into the box and clicking Add.
   3. Add a featured image. The image dimensions are 580 x 250 pixels. Larger images will be cropped automatically.
   4. Add Meta Description. What is a meta description?
5. Click Publish.

How to Create the Blog Page

By default, the blog will appear as your homepage. These steps will create another page for your blog.

1. Go to Pages > Add New
2. Enter a page title.
   Example: Blog, News, Articles, Updates
3. Click Publish or Update

Set the Blog Settings

1. Click Reading under Settings.
2. Select A Static Page
3. Select your homepage next to the Front Page.
4. Select the blog page you created next to the Posts Page.
5. Click Save Changes

Add the Blog Page to Your Menu

1. Go to Menus
2. Click Pages
3. In the Pages box, select the page you created.
4. Click Add to Menu
5. Drag the page name into the order you prefer.
6. Click Save Menu
