Beat Genres or Beat Categories Links Don’t Work

In WordPress, sometimes, when you rename or edit categories/genre names or their link structures, it can stop links from working.

Fixing this problem will be a trial and error process because it is different for everyone.

1. Save Permalinks

Whenever you change your beat categories, beat genres, or beat tag names, you need to re-save your permalink structure. You will do this by going to Permalinks under Settings on the sidebar. Click the Save Changes button.

Now, test out the sorting links on your sidebar.

If the links do not work, try #2:

2. Re-change Names

If updating the permalinks didn’t work, you may have to try and go back to the old category, genre, or tag name you previously had. So go back and re-change the name and URL to what it was previously. Once you do this, go back and save your permalinks again.

If the links do not work, try #3:

3. Delete and Add New

The last option is to delete the category, genre, or tag that is not linking right. Re-add the category, genre, or tag ( exactly the way you want ) and give it the URL structure you want when creating it. Once you do this, go back and save your permalinks again. You will have to go into your beats and re-add them into a genre, category, or tag group of your choice. This option should work.

Now, test out the sorting links on your sidebar.
