Here is the information on how to create this type of deal.

How the system works. The beat store doesn't give a discount off of how many beats are in the shopping cart, but by the total dollar amount in the beat shopping cart.

Example: If your leased beats are $19.99 each. 3 Leased beats add up to $59.97.

So you will create a discount at a flat rate. If the shopping cart total is over $59.97, and the promo code is entered, remove a flat rate of $19.99. Which makes 1 beat free.

Reference Image

example

How to Add a Discount

1. In WordPress click Discount Codes under Beat Store on the sidebar.

2. On the discount code page click the Add New button.

3. Enter the discount info.

When creating a discount there are several fields to fill in:

  • Name – This is the name of the discount. It is mainly for admin purposes.
  • Code - This is the code that buyers will enter during checkout. Example: Buy2Get1Free
  • Type - The options are “Percentage” and “Flat”. A percentage discount, such as 10%, subtracts the specified percent off of the total purchase price. A flat rate discount subtracts the given amount from the total purchase price.
  • Amount – This specifies how much the discount is worth. Enter whole numbers only. For example, to set a discount to 10%, set the Type to “Percentage” and then enter “10″ here.
  • Download Requirements – This option allows you to specify which digital product(s) the coupon code applies to as well as which products are required before the coupon can be applied.
  • Start Date – This option allows you to dictate when the discount can first be used. If a buyer tries to use this discount before this date is reached, they will receive a “discount is invalid” error.
  • Expiration Date – This option lets you specify an end, or expiration, date for the discount. Once this date is reached, this code will no longer be able to be used.
  • Minimum Amount – This option lets you set a minimum order amount that is required before buyers can apply the discount. For example if you set this to 100, (no currency sign), buyers will only be able to use this discount if they have at least $100 of beats in their shopping cart.
  • Max Uses – This sets the maximum number of times the discount code can be used.
  • Use Per Customer – As the title suggests, with this option checked you can limit the use of the coupon to once per customer.

Once you have filled in all the fields, click the Add Discount Code button.

Once you create an active discount code, this discount code message appears on the Checkout page.

In WordPress sometimes when you rename or edit categories / genres names or their link structures it can stop links from working.

Fixing this problem will be a trail and error process because it is different for everyone.

1. Save Permalinks - When ever you change your beat categories, beat genres, or beat tag names you need to re-save your permalink structure. You will do this by going to Permalinks under Settings on the sidebar. Click the Save Changes button.

Now test out the sorting links on your sidebar.

If the links do not work, try #2:

2. Re-change Names: If updating the permalinks didn't work, you may have to try and go back to the old category, genre, or tag name you previously had. So go back and re-change the name and URL to what it was previously. Once you do this, go back and save your permalinks again.

Now test out the sorting links on your sidebar.

If the links do not work, try #3:

3. Delete and Add New: The last option is to delete the category, genre, or tag that is not linking right. Re-add the category, genre, or tag ( exactly the way you want ) and give it the URL structure you want when creating it. Once you do this, go back and save your permalinks again. You will have to go into your beats and re-add them into a genre, category, or tag group of your choice. This option should work.

Now test out the sorting links on your sidebar.

The answer is Yes & No.

You can upload multiple beats to WordPress or your server at once. But you will still have to manually add each beats information and then you can copy and paste the beat preview and beat download once you have the file URL .

Please note: Before uploading multiple files, try to come up with a file naming system that makes it easy to find the files you are looking for. You should account for .MP3 beat previews and your file downloads ( MP3, WAV, Etc. ) which should be in a zip file.

Uploading Multiple Files Through WordPress

In WordPress click Add New under Media Uploads on the sidebar. Drag and drop the beat previews and file downloads into the dotted box.

drop files here

Let the files upload. Once the files finish uploading, you have 2 options to get the file URL.

Option 1. From the Upload New Media Uploads file page you can open the Edit link in a new window and copy the files URL to paste it into the audio preview and file downloads input.

upload

Option 2: When adding a new beat click the Upload MP3 button. Then click the Media Uploads Library tab. Browse for the beat you are looking for and click Show. Click the File URL button and copy and paste the files location into the correct input.

browse

The other option to upload multiple beats is to use FTP software to upload multiple files to your website server. Check out How to Upload Large Files to Your Server Through FTP Software. This solution is suggested if you have problems uploading files through WordPress.

1. Edit the custom-meta-box.php in the in the functions folder.

'type' => 'text',

3. Change 'type' => 'text', to 'type' => 'textarea',

4. Save the file and re-upload to your server.

There are 3 reasons the audio player won't play.

  1. You did not add an audio preview - The audio preview input is required. Checkout this article.
  2. Another WordPress plugin is causing a conflict. Turn off all plugins except Easy Digital Downloads to see if the error still exist. How to Troubleshoot.
  3. Server Restrictions - If you did add an MP3 and turned off all plugins except EDD, your server restrictions may be preventing MP3 files from streaming. To test this, copy and paste the MP3 file location of your audio preview into your web browser and to see if it plays. If it does not play, your server may be preventing playback of the file. If this is the case, contact your website host and ask for help on the topic of MP3 files not working on your server.

This problem is usually caused by PayPal being unable to effectively communicate with your website.

There are several common reasons payments remain as “Pending”:

  • PayPal’s Instant Payment Notifications (IPN) system is not enabled or configured properly in your PayPal account
  • You have a plugin installed that is blocking the IPN requests
  • Your website cannot make remote requests through cURL
  • You have rules in your .htaccess file that are blocking the IPN requests
  • Your site has too aggressive caching that results in improper update queries

Plugins that have been known to cause issues:

  • Bad Behavior
  • iThemes Security
  • All-In-One Security
  • Wordfence Security
  • W3 Total Cache
  • WP Super Cache
  • Complete Cache

What to Do

Configuring the PayPal IPN

The first thing you should do is go to Beat Store > Settings > Payment Gateways and check the box for “Disable PayPal IPN Verification”.

1w

If this does not resolve the issue, you will need to login to your PayPal account, go to Profile > My Selling Tools > Instant Payment Notification and make sure that IPN is enabled. If PayPal requires you set a URL, then use:

http://yoursite.com/?edd-listener=IPN

1z

If neither of these solutions work, then you will need to check and confirm that your PayPal account has a verified email address. If the address in your PayPal account is not verified, payments will not automatically be marked as complete.

Another possible cause would be conflicts of currency. If PayPal is receiving payments in $USD, but you have EDD’s currency set to something other than $USD, transactions may not be completed properly.

If the problem still persists, the last option is then to ensure you do not have any plugins, such as Bad Behavior, installed. These kind of anti-spam plugins typically block the PayPal communication. If you do have one of these plugins installed, try deactivating it, do a test purchase, and then see if your payment is marked as complete. IF everything goes well, feel free to contact Support and we will help you set both plugins up to work together.

The WordPress file upload limit is NOT set or controlled by the Music Maker theme, but by your website host.

To increase your file upload limit you will need to contact your website host and ask them for help on increasing your WordPress upload limit to the highest they allow.

Since all website host are different, there is no universal way to increase your upload limit.

Some people prefer to upload to their server through FTP software.

Some people have wanted to sell digital downloads on their website, but felt restricted because they didn't want to digital download to appear in their beat store.

If you add this free add-on called Hide Download, it will add a check-box to each beat you add which will allow you to stop that beat ( or digital download ) from appearing in your beat store.

Each digital product you add to your site provides a shortcode that you can copy and paste so you can make a blog post or a static post to sell that digital product.

Using the beat store shortcode you can offer digital downloads on your site just like your beats, and use the same checkout cart as your beats.

How to do this

1. Download the Hide Download plugin: https://easydigitaldownloads.com/extensions/hide-download/ . You may be able to go to the plugins page in WordPress and search for Easy Digital Downloads Hide Download. Activate the plugin.

2. Selected a digital download in your beat store to edit. When editing check the Hide download option.

3. Go to the All Beats page in WordPress and copy the Shortcode for the digital download you want to sell.

Screen Shot 2014-08-01 at 2.49.27 PM

4. Create static page or blog post about the digital download you want to sell. Paste that digital download shortcode in your post so people can buy it.

Check out this example of how a page can look.

Digital

Download the sample code for the image above here: Sample code. You will need to add your own image, text, audio file location if needed, and update the but with the correct shortcode.

Once your visitor pays for a beat, they are redirected to a download page to download the untagged beat, and are sent a email confirmation with download link as well.

Here are two options.

  1. Post Types Order Plugin - Install the Post Types Order plugin to drag and drop the order of beats, photos, video, and more. Sorry, no tutorial for this.
  2. Manually change the dates of your beats. Beats in your beat store appear with the most recently added beats appearing on top of the beat store table and older beats appearing at the bottom. So to change the order of your beats you must change the beat published date.

How to Change Dates

1. Go to All Beats on the sidebar under Beat Store in WordPress.

beats

2. The order you see the beats in on this page is the same order they appear in the beat store table. So I would start by moving beats down in the table that you don't want to appear on the top of the beat store table. You will see the beat publish date on the far right of the All Beats page.

date

Roll over the beat you would like to change the date of and click the Quick Edit link.

quick-edit

3. You can see in the image below the date of the beat is September 10th. If you most recent batch of beat uploads were around that time, I would simply change the 09-Sep to 08-Aug. So it would move this beat 1 month back and move it to the bottom of the page. Once you change the date, click the Update button.

Change the dates of a couple more beats, then refresh the All Beats page and the beats will be updated to the new order.

2. Include the contract as a second file download with the beat. The same way you would add the beat to download, you would add the contract to download. So that contract link will be added in the purchase email and also to the checkout page after their payment is made.

Here are the steps I took to increase my WordPress upload limit with my host Dreamhost.

Starting off my WordPress upload limit was 7mb.

Please note. These steps are for some what advanced users.

7mb

1. Go here to download a php.ini file. Click the Download Now button on that page.

Screen Shot 2014-04-16 at 10.44.24 PM

2. Unzip the file you download.

Unzip

Here are the instructions in the Read Me file. "Upload dh-phpini.php into your domain's folder and open it in a browser."

3. Using my ftp software, I uploaded the dh-phpini.php file to the root of my WordPress folder.

4. Next you want to open that file on your server in your browser. So if you put it in the root, it should be your domain name, slash the file name. Example: http://your-domain.com/dh-phpini.php

You should see a page like this. Click the install button.

Now if I go into WordPress you will see your upload limit is 20mb.

20mb

But we want more space....

So with my ftp program still option, I'm going to go to the root of my WordPress folder, and go into the cgi-bin folder.

This feature is not included with the Music Maker theme, it is a paid add-on.

This plugin allows you to limit the number of times a beat can be sold. Once that beat is sold, the beat is automatically changed to sold out and can not be purchased again. The beat is not automatically removed, so if you want it removed from your site you have to do it manually.

https://easydigitaldownloads.com/extensions/purchase-limit/

Purchase Limit
This extension allows you specify purchase limits on a per-product basis. Want to disable a specific file after it’s been purchased ten times? Now you can! Simply install this plugin, set your purchase limit, and you’re done! It’s that simple!

Purchase Limits also allows you to limit the dates Downloads are available to be purchased by setting a start and/or end date.

Plugin Notes with the Music Maker theme:

  • To use the limit purchase feature, beats can only have one license option. Example: Exclusive.
  • The beat will not automatically be removed from the beat store, it just can no longer be purchased.

LEASING RIGHTS
You will receive an encoded MP3 file of the untagged song, and/or a copy of the raw WAV file. The song file can be delivered digitally or through the mail on a CD. Leasing rights allow you to use the beat (or song) for ONE commercial recording or broadcast. This recording can then be distributed at your price for up to 2,000 copies. Selling more than 2,000 copies means you must acquire a new lease or exclusive rights. You may also use the beat for non-profit promotional use or demos. You have full rights to record, alter, mix the beat/song in any shape, way, or form (except reselling the beat). You will receive a contract in the mail granting you non-exclusive rights to the beat. In the event that someone buys exclusive rights to the beat you have leased, your rights shall stand and the beat is still yours to use. You may also acquire new leasing rights if you sell more than 2,000 copies since your contract predates exclusive sale. The seller will not receive a royalty from the sale of records or downloads. You must however give full credit to the seller (artist and/or producer name) on all commercial recordings. Upon purchasing leasing rights, the seller still owns the beat(s) and the seller is able to resell the beat(s) to any other party until exclusive rights have been purchased.

EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS
You will receive a MP3 file of the beat (or song), untagged (free of soundmarks) and/or a copy of the raw WAV file. The song file can be delivered digitally or through the mail on a CD. Exclusive rights grant you unlimited commercial recordings and broadcasts. You have full rights to record, alter, mix the beat/song in any shape, way, or form (except reselling the beat). You will receive a contract in the mail granting you exclusive rights to the beat. You own the recording as a "work made for hire". The original seller may no longer lease or sell the beat/song, except for prior leasing rights holders and his/her own promotional page (no downloads there). The seller will not receive a royalty from the sale of records or downloads. You must however give full credit to the seller (artist and/or producer name) on all commercial recordings.

SPECIAL USES: TV, Movies, Commercials, Websites

  • Charity organizations: can use song for free, but must give full credit to artist/producer
  • Student projects for school/college: can use song for free, but must give full credit to artist/producer
  • Commercials, In-house, company publications: for publications with less than 50,000 viewers exclusive rights suffice. Terms are to be discussed for larger publications.
  • Websites (less than 100,000 monthly hits): leasing rights suffice
  • Websites (other): must acquire exclusive rights
  • TV/Movie: terms are to be discussed

CAVEAT
The above guidelines are only SoundClick's suggestion for drafting reasonable agreements. In no way is SoundClick responsible for honoring either the seller's or the buyer's agreement. If either party fails to honor any licensing agreement you may contact SoundClick at support@soundclick.com. Some users have problems uploading large files to their server through WordPress, so the best suggestion I can give is to upload large files to your server using FTP software. FTP software allows you to browse files on your server and upload multiple files easily.

Instructions:

Install FTP Software:

I use a free software for Firefox called FireFTP. It is a Fire Fox add on, so you will have to use the Fire Fox browser to use the add on. Get FireFTP here.

Here is a free FTP software for Google Chrome. You can use any FTP software of your choice.

Connect to Your Server with FTP software:

Once you have installed the FTP software, open the add on to enter your server personal information.

1. Click the FireFTP app link.

fireftp

2. Select the Create an Account in the drop down menu.

create - ftp

3. A pop up window will appear. Enter your FTP login information. You should have received this information when signing up with your website host. Click OK.

ftp info

4. Click the Connect link.

connect-button

5. Once the FTP software is connected to your server, in the window on the right, browse your server for where WordPress is installed. Once you locate the folder, double click the wp-content folder.

connected-to-server

6. Double click the uploads folder.

upload-file22

7. In the window on the right, right click the open space and click the Create Directory option.

create-new-folder

8. Enter the name for the folder. Name it something simple, unique, and no spaces. In the example I created I called the folder my-beats.

my-folder-name

This will be the folder you upload your large zipped up audio files too.

9. Double click into the folder you just created. This folder will be empty.

empty-folder

Upload a Beat to your Server:

Put the beat you want to upload to your server in a ZIP file. In the window on the left, browse to the location of your beat. Double click the file you want to upload and the file will upload to your server.

server

Locate the Zip File on Your Server:

Next you want to get the direct file location to the file you just uploaded to your server so you can add the file location to the file download section in WordPress when adding a beat.

If you added the folder to the WordPress uploads folder, the location of the file will look something like this.

http://your-address.com/wp-content/uploads/folder-name/file-name.zip

Update the orange text with your information. This is how my file location looks:

http://mybeats.com/wp-content/uploads/my-beats/sample-beat.zip

Test out the file location by entering it into your browser window and hitting enter. If you have the correct file location, your browser should begin to download the file.

enter-url

Add Beat to Download Files Location:

When you are adding a beat in WordPress, copy and paste the ZIP file location in the File URL input and enter the File Name for your file on the left.

wav-file

Your large file download should now be connected.

Do a test purchase to make sure your download works properly.

Extra Security Measure:

Download this index.html ZIP file.

Unzip this attached ZIP file and upload the index.html file to the folder your created on your server to upload beats. Adding the index.html to your server will prevent the folder from being viewable from the computer browsers.

Double click the index.html file to upload it to your server.

index-file

Security note: When a beat is purchased, a dynamic URL is created to download the beat, so the file location you created will not be viewable to the user.
